Top 10 differences between the first and second pregnancy

1. Diet

1st pregnancy - What diet? Whatever the baby wants to eat, I ate.
Old folks say to satisfy all cravings if not the baby will come out to be a glutton.
OK, point taken! EAT ALL I WANT!

2nd pregnancy - Thou shall not eat.
No sweet stuffs!
I am not going to make the same mistake of putting on more than 20 kg!

2. Shopping

1st pregnancy - ALL SOOOO CUTE!!! BUY ALL!!!
It's a girl and a girl can never have too many clothes.
Moreover, I don't have any pass-down baby girl clothes.
So, I bought all the PINK one can possibly find.
Why is there so many things to buy for a baby girl?

2nd pregnancy - Thou shall not spend unwisely.
I have 2 nephews, so there's plenty of baby boy's clothes.
And when I say plenty, it means it is enough for at least 5, okay maybe 10 baby boys!
My sister is 100 times crazier than me.

I bought less than 20 pieces of baby boy clothings.

So, I splurged on 1 jacket
which I am still feeling very guilty.

1 tiny jacket for the price of 1 kitchen set.
Okay, never mind.

3. Medication / Supplements

1st pregnancy - I ate those pills faithfully.

2nd pregnancy - If I can remember, then I take them.

4. Transportation

1st pregnancy - When the husband can't send me or pick me up from work, I took the taxi.

2nd pregnancy - For the 1st and 2nd trimester, if there's no car, I took the bus (sometimes).
For the 3rd trimester, I took the taxi (because apparently some working adults need to be seated on the priority seats to play some lame iphone games).

5. Finance

1st pregnancy - That Chanel bag is nice! So are the earrings!

2nd pregnancy - If I buy this Chanel bag, I can buy so many shoes and clothes for the kids.

6. Push Present

1st pregnancy - 1 Chanel bag please!

2nd pregnancy - I need no Chanel. I want lasik, so that
I can wake up, open my eyes and see my kids.

7. Husband

1st pregnancy -
Wife: I am thirsty.
Husband: What drink do you want?

2nd pregnancy -
Husband: I am thirsty.
Wife: What drink do you want?

8. Sleep

1st pregnancy - Sleep all I want.

2nd pregnancy - My 1st baby kid needs me, I have to wake up now.

9. Confinement Preparation

1st pregnancy - Read up online intensively,
listen to everyone's views.

2nd pregnancy - I've been there, done that. Nothing to prepare for.

10. Birth Preparation

1st pregnancy -
Hospital bag packed.
Downloaded at least 20 hospital bag checklists just in case I missed out anything.

2nd pregnancy -
RELAX lah,
I will pack it later~

Back to haunt

Sighs!
This 2nd pregnancy, I'm very conscious about the weight gain because if it's rocket high like Arissa's time, I thought I have to go through that diabetics test again. So all in all for the past few months, I've only gained 5 kgs which is amazing lol, I can be Japanese liao!

But but but the Gynae said I still gonna go for the diabetics test, Fml cos I had gestational diabetics during my 1st pregnancy, siannnnnnnnn...

So I spammed all the durians and sweet drinks yesterday in anticipation of the tests next month which requires fasting (starve Preggy woman to death!), 3 blood withdrawal and sucky drinking of glucose!

Thank God that I only want 2 kids and just nice, 1 girl 1 boy! Okay I need to count my blessing instead of whining non stop!

Hopefully my weight gain can remain constant and the total weight gain is just 10 kg instead of the previous 20kg weight gain during 1st pregnancy!

After this pregnancy, I can work hard to be hot mama lol. Gonna sign up all the nonsense facial and body treatments and do lasik and finally, focus on my career!

NO baby should go through this pain

Baby born with a fractured skull, broken spinal cord, on life support for 5 days, died.
Being a mummy now,
makes me wanna burst out crying after reading this.

In the past, I would just read and ya, feel sad about it
but I won't share it and definitely won't even blog about it.

But as a mum now,
I totally understand how your baby meant the world to you.

Protective,
and really only wanting the best for your baby.

No,
not a single baby should go through such ordeal,
no baby should!

I can't imagine the heart pain of the parents.
Just the thought of it makes me wanna cry.

How could such a happy occasion turned out to be a disaster?
Is the gynae even experienced enough?

UNCOMMON things to consider before getting pregnant

You may have read alot of
"Things to consider before getting pregnant"
and most of it consists of having the baby for 40weeks (and how tough it is blah blah blah),
or the responsibilities of having a baby, finances, etc.

I'm gonna tell you some which ARE NOT COMMONLY the things to consider,
and of course, some common things as well.

1. PAIN

They seldom (or never) mention about pain, do they?
By pain, I mean excruciating pain.

This may apply to some people only.
(those who opt for no epidural or
those who opt for epidural and it didn't work, yes, that's me!).

If u think that epidural works for everyone,
well, it doesn't.

"It doesn't work for everyone.."
that's what the Doc said to me before he skillfully poked the needle into me.

Oh yes, having the needle poked into the spine is not painful.

So, this is my story:

On my estimated due date (edd), 24th Nov 2013, I felt slight menses cramps
(which is actually contractions).

On the 25th Nov 2013 (which is the day to induce delivery),
the contractions got worse.

While waiting to see the gynae (morning appt),
it got beyond worse and they put me on this scan machine to track the frequency of contractions.

Finally,
it is my turn to see the gynae
and gynae poked me below and said I was 3cm dilated.

I was damn happy and thought I could faster give birth and get over with it.

Then she said
"You need to be 10cm dilated, that is the usual.."

WTF, FML!

kill me crazy rabbit

So, I went to the delivery ward to wait for the 10cm dilation (which never came).

Things happened very quickly there:
1. I got changed and was told to urine in a cup.
2. Some nurse poke a mega needle into my vein on my hand which hurts like a bitch and
is not supposed to hurt so much wtf is she doing to me!
3. Nurse connected me to a scan machine to track my contractions.
4. Was told I needed to clear my bowels and the next thing I know,
I got fucked (yes, fucked! my VIRGIN arsehole) by a pointed bottle.
5. Epidural-ed
6. Gynae came and poked my water bag.
7. Contractions Contractions Contractions
8. Ate sandwiches

All these while, Bei got chased by the nurses, wtf.
He also did the registration and upgraded me to 1 bedded (best decision ever).

Finally, after long miserable hours of waiting,
I finally got "transported" to the individual delivery room,
where there's at least a proper couch for Bei to sit.

Either the contractions got real bad or the epidural worn off,
I don't know which but I was suffering.

Poor Bei was nursing a bad throbbing headache,
he even went to buy medicated oil and showered his head with it

no no crazy rabbit

Finally, at 5pm, the pain was TOTALLY UNBEARABLE
and I felt something pushing below.

So, the nurse poked me below and called for the gynae.

Gynae came and poked me.
(again..how many times am I gonna get FUCKED BY ALL THESE PEOPLE's FINGERS!!!!
seriously, don't know why the nurses need to poke me lah!!
I HAVE A GYNAE, PLS LET HER DO THE POKING ONLY!!!)

She said I am 8cm dilated,
I can try pushing for 1-2 hours and see how.

So, she went off.
(I thought she will be pushing together with me, I guess not)

Bei is such an angel.
He was pushing with me for 1 hour,
shouting
1-2-3 PUSH.

ALL THE WHILE,
the nurses kept CHANGING!!!

FUCKKKK!!!!

They change and change and change,
NO HELP IN PUSHING.

1 or 2 nurses that came,
helped with the pushing for once only then WALKED OUT AGAIN.

1 nurse even WATCHED THE TV
while asking me to push.

FUCKKKKK UUUUUU,
I wanna stab them.

Then an hour later,
gynae came and pushed with me (yes please thank you!).

She said baby's BP going up,
so recommended to deliver asap.

So, she cut my below (cries!),
I COULD FEEL THE CUT but was too much in pain to care.

Baby got sucked out.

Baby cried.

Heaved a sign of relief that it's over.
Then panicked and asked if baby is okay.

Bei frantically taking pictures of baby
(he bought his professional camera but ended up using iphone to take pics)

We wanted to record a video,
but it didn't materialize.
Faints!

I must say I am impressed by the speedy delivery,
the baby popped out in 5 mins time.

Bei felt that the 1 hour of pushing was redundant -.-"

Then, I got stitched up and could feel every single stitch and tug and pull.

PAIN
FUCKING PAINFUL

2. THE AFTERMATH

The pain doesn't stop after you delivered.
But of course, you can pop painkillers like I did for the first few days.

I stopped popping them
when I discharged.

Cos I wanted to know if I am healing not.
Cos if I dont feel anything, I could ended up sitting wrongly and splitting my stitches.

The first few days was the saddest.
Stitches swollen, had diarrhoea (still having it now, fml).
My stitches were all the way to the arsehole, so imagine me having diarrhoea.

It was the saddest few days of my life.
I wanted to just die on the toilet bowl.

I don't know if it is normal to have diarrhoea,
but I've been told diarrhoea is good, means I'm getting rid of the toxic in me.

70% of the time, ok I lied, I mean 90% of the time,
I diarrhoea on my pad.

I never even tell Bei about the shitting on pad,
he's gonna laugh at me for the rest of my life.

Seriously, is this even normal?
I hope this diarrhoea ends soon.

3. BABY & BREAST MILK

Yes, your baby will mean the world to you.
after the 40weeks and the pain you went through, the sacrifices you made (bye bye hour glass figure),
how can any mother not love their baby?

WHAT WERE THOSE MOTHER WHO KILLED THEIR BABIES THINKING!?!?

and yes, every mother thinks their baby is the cutest #truestory

Breast milk,
if you don't have, it is ok, it is normal
(I don't have much till now :( but it is ok, formula milk is fine).

People may comment that you have so little milk,
but don't let them put u down.

Join those mummies group,
they will encourage you and share what they do to increase breast milk.

4. GUILT

You feel guilty when you leave the care of your baby to others.

But you need to do that,
so that u can recover fully,
fuel up before taking care of baby yourself.

Even after u recovered,
you should occasionally take a break and have some me-time and couple-time.

That's to keep sane.

5. MOTHERHOOD

Motherhood is good,
enjoy it.

That's what everyone says!

No, it won't be good.
Imagine pumping/feeding, crying baby and not knowing what's wrong, worrying if your baby is shitting enough, worrying if your baby is feeling unwell, worrying if your baby is drinking too much or too little, etc.

But u can choose to feel good about motherhood.
Embrace it, embrace motherhood.

What I'm saying is,
every read/article that says Motherhood is good,
is actually telling you that u can choose to feel good about it.

It isn't really good.

cutest baby ever,
the smile melts my heart...

HORROR story

I am finally in my 3rd trimester (YES!!)

angel1 onion head

There's still 13 weeks to go though,
which seems to be crawling each day.

Anyway,
just thought that I should share this,
even though it may not be healthy for preggies who are reading.

But still,
I feel that being aware is better than ignorance.

Baby Sah narrated to me this story about her friend.

The friend is pregnant,
and was ready to give birth.

But never did she know that she's gonna give birth to a
stillborn.

Week ago, she felt contractions
but kind of ignored it as she thought it's normal.

Stillborn is apparently common.

It could happen if the baby gets choked by the cord.

So, the message across is
to always feel and be aware that your baby's moving.

I understand though,
the above will not guarantee a detection of bb choked by cord.

This is life,
and all I can do is to leave it to God's hands.

Honestly,
I can't imagine having the baby for close to 40 weeks,
and such happens.

Anyway,
I wish all babies safe,
especially for mine.

Sometimes, I get really paranoid
when there's no kicks (my bb loves to poke, kick, move).

I will tap my stomach
and heaved a sign of relief
when there's action in my tummy.

Sighs.

Please be safe.

Planning for photoshoot

Capturing memories is important to me.

What more, if it is your own precious child?

This has increasingly becoming more and more popular!

So, at the last baby fair,
Bei & I took a look at the baby photoshoots available.

It was pretty expensive
(if you are as crazy as me, who wants like 100 costumes!)

We then decided to do it ourselves,
when no one offers the minions costume.

So, we are gonna buy the minion costume,
which is quite expensive!
boohoo crazy rabbit

That aside,
I'm also getting some pretty affordable costumes,
but not so commonly available in Singapore.

hate crazy rabbit

These are some of the other 99 costumes that I'm getting.

I think I can set up a shop to sell all these,
maybe I should just learn how to knit!

MINNIE MOUSE!!!
I've not seen this in Singapore!!!

BUNNY!
This is common but is an essential cos I'm a sucker for bunnies.

MERMAID!!
I have not seen this in Singapore too!!
They do have those boring plain ones but none has PEARLS like this does!!

I was thinking that the erm, top part (covering the boobs) is kind of weird,
but mine's a girl so I guess it's needed right?

I mean, later my kid grow up and have a damaged childhood,
cos her boobs not covered up in photoshoots.

Okay,
that's all for now!

Once again,
I can't show you everything I'm getting,
cos it won't be exciting liao!

Please wait for my baby's photoshoot,
then get excited!

It's about hmmm, a wait of 7-8 months.

nobody eats my food

Yesterday night,
I went to pee before Zzzz.

So, while walking to the toilet,
I kicked something.

I thought I stepped on a lizard or something
(since I have the history of stepping lizard to death - bare feet).

So, I turned and looked for a lizard.

To my horror,
a cockroach was flipping and scrambling away.

crying3 onion head

WTF, FML!

I peed, washed my feet and RUN BACK TO THE ROOM.

THE END (not quite though)

This morning,
I woke up early and was kind of hungry.

So, I reached into my bag for my cheese bread
(which I was saving and tried not to eat the day before at work).

AND ONE COCKROACH RUN OUT OF MY BREAD BAG!!!!

FUCKKKKKKK!!!!!!!
lol2 onion head
MY FOOD!!!!!

I was so scared I threw the bread on the floor.

The cockroach ran,
I panicked and wanted to shout for help from the maid.

But I reckoned that by the time she comes to my rescue,
the cockroach would have already flee.

NO!
NOBODY EATS MY FOOD AND GET AWAY!

I don't know what came over me
and I became so gutsy.

I took up my bedroom slipper and slapped it.

DIE BITCH! DIE BITCH!

pretty onion head

I ran out of the room and called for help.

I even asked the maid to clean my room
and wash my bedroom slippers.

Sighs

So, morale of the story is
"nobody eats my food".

Shopping

I've kind of stopped shopping for myself,
and just shopping for my little mango.

Mango,
cos' that's is the size of the baby now.

Anyway,
some of the insanely cute ones that made me go ga-ga over:

Hello Kitty!
It has a pom pom skirt and WINGS!

bye2 onion head

This is for bigger kids,
but no harm seeing, right?

Rilakkuma,
most impractical.

No, I'm not buying this.

Just see see only! embarrassed3 onion head

Definitely not buying this,
just can't understand which mummy would buy such a thing for their little girl.

It's like a wardrobe crisis man!

Hello Kitty again, yes, again!

Again!

I love it when they have extra bows/ribbons.

So awwWWWW~

Sorry baby, you gonna grow up liking Hello Kitty,
not much of a choice.

I'm contemplating on the below.

Seriously, I don't understand why they must mix the pink with the dirty blue.
It destroys all the sweetness.

Sufferings

Oh well,
I wouldnt call it suffering actually.

Honestly,
I have it easier than most women.

No morning sickness,
except for extreme fatigue that's really beyond!

Now that I'm growing bigger,
I hope it's just the baby growing bigger,
not me.

I had already experienced leg cramps.

LEG CRAMPS!
or should I say CALF CRAMPS!

I've had foot cramps,
but they are less than 10 times in my entire life.

BUT CALF CRAMPS is like a whole new LEVEL UP!
It is excruciating!

I woke up in the middle of the night,
shouting for Bei to save me.

There's even side effects of the cramp!
After the cramp, my calf (singular cos' just 1 leg, thank God!) feel so achy,
as though I just ran 10km.

I think I better go google how to prevent leg cramps!

BABY GIRL

Tantrum

I'm carrying a baby girl.
Most of you would have known it by now.

It's true that both Bei and I wanted a boy,
but we will take whatever God gives (of course!).

All I want is for the baby to be healthy, normal and strong.

So since it's a baby girl,
there's a lot of shopping to be done!

Again, since it's a baby girl,
I'm willing to give up my walk in wardrobe for a princess room.

Every parent refer their baby girl as a princess,
hmmm, I have to think of something more original.

Enough said,
let's take a look at the clothes I'm gonna buy!!!!

HELLO KITTY! HELLO KITTY! HELLO KITTY!

I'm kind of getting this cos' it's pink and cherry and should be easier to wear, right?

Okay, there's a lot more,
but I wont show them now,
cos you will see them on my baby itself.

If I show it now,
you will be like "oh, seen before liao".

If I don't show it now,
you will be like "AHHH, so CUTE!".

Yes, my baby's gonna be cute, lol.

Bye!
I'm off to find food~

Post Natal Massage

I'm gonna know my baby's gender next week,
and I'm so freaking excited about it.

Cos it means that I can start the wardrobe shopping,
hee!

Anyway, before then,
I've so caught up with find a good malay lady to engage for my post natal massage.

I've read through so many forum threads,
texted some to check on prices.

Me just wanna get back my figure,
but who is the BEST?

Maternity Wear

Why are all the maternity wear so EXPENSIVE and yet SO UGLY?

I mean,
it's hard enough to look fat all the time,
so why can't they make nicer clothes?!?

Bei's been asking me to buy some maternity wear,
but whenever we walk past any maternity shop,
I can't bring myself to go in
because at one glance,
I knew I couldn't.

I couldn't look fat + zero fashion sense.

AND THE PRICE IS...
ARE THEY TRYING TO CARROT HEAD WE,
POOR PREGNANT WOMEN?!

Just a bit more cloth,
then charge u so much more.

Who says that being pregnant,
you give up on fashion and throw on any big clothes you can find?

I just want to dress decently,
sob!

1st Trimester

These few months has been rather tiring for me.

I'm sorry,
but this is gonna be a pregnancy ranting post.

I've read books and books,
they said that you will feel a burst of energy in the 2nd trimester.

Well,
I did, for the first few days of the 2nd trimester.

The burst I felt most,
was the tummy burst.

I think my tummy looks 5 months now,
when I'm only 3 months.

People ask me if I've been eating too much
-___-"

I've started wearing maternity dresses,
which is too early as well.

What is happening?!

Anyway,
Bei's family said that the tummy is rounded
so that's a baby girl in there.

Bei's pretty much convinced too.

I'm still hoping that there's a little dick growing.

Ok, that's crude.

I'm sorry,
I meant I hope there's a baby boy in my tummy.

But then again,
all I wish and want right now
is to have a healthy normal baby.

I guess gender isn't really important to me,
even though I portrayed it to be.

I'm having backache,
and that came a little too soon, I think.

When I get off the bed,
I'm constantly having this
"I SPRAINED MY BACK!!!".

But I've been so blessed,
I hope the blessings will come even more.

ah, I'm so greedy!

Okay,
I'm off to bath and ZzZZzZ.

The next post will be full of pictures,
I promise think.

PREGNANT

So, the title is self-explanatory.

We hit the jackpot,
and now, there's gonna be a baby.

By the way,
this was drafted like weeks ago
but I'm only posting it now after my 1st trimester.

(Chinese believe that for the 1st three months,
you should be hush-hush about the pregnancy.)

Anyway,
we did a calculation and the jackpot was hit in Maldives.

You may all know that my wedding was held back in Dec 2012,
and the honeymoon was in Feb 2013.

So honestly from Wedding Day onward,
we take nature take its course.
(Ok, for those who doesn't understand,
it means no protection in any form)

We didn't try for a baby,
cos we believe that if God wants to give us one,
he would.

Moreover, friends around us were reproducing rapidly, lol.

But then, when Feb 2013 came and that's when the Chinese New Year was,
everyone started asking when's the baby coming?

That's when I got kind of scared
and I remembered asking Bei
"what if there's some problem with us?
I mean we have been ...... for 2 months and nothing?"

In the end,
we decided that if it doesn't come by end of 2013,
we will see a doctor.

After all,
both of us didn't really want a snake baby.

But,
deep down I was still afraid
and I kind of prayed for one.

And you know,
God listens.

VOLA!
Here's one for us!

Baby smileys

Now,
all I hope is that the baby is healthy and normal.

and hopefully, it's a BOY!

pleaseeeeee gimmeeeee a boyyyyyyyyyy.
