HELLO 2016!

*waves hands*

hi onion head

The last time I actually blogged was in Sep 2015.

Goodness,
where have I been?

Anyway, my 2015 has been a pretty awesome one,
because:

1. Alonso,
the new addition to the LEE family.

He is probably the main reason (99.99%) why I think 2015 is awesome.

To be able to have both a daughter and a son is really a blessing.

I prayed sooooooo hard for a son, really!

I'm not saying that to have all sons or all daughters is bad,
but having 1 each, kind of allows me to say "ok, target met, factory can close down now!"

I am very blessed,
really really blessed.

Thank you God!

2. Arissa

I am always thankful for this cheeky dino obsessed girl.

She is the sunshine in my life,
the reason why I can smile despite a bad day at work.

Actually work is not bad, just that sometimes it frustrates me to no end.

I live for her hugs and kisses.

Every time she wants Mummy, it makes me secretly proud and immeasurably happy.

3. Bei,
the husband.

good luck onion head

Another person that I'm always thankful to have,
though I may not show it.

The disciplinarian in the house.

The one who is more involved with the kids than me.

The one who works hard for the family.

The one who still makes my heart flutter even after so many years,
even though most of the time, he irritates me to no end
and I imagine myself stepping on his face too often lol.

4. Family,
both sides.

Some may fail you,
but most do not and I'm thankful for that.

5. Work

I just wish that I can do the work of what a CA do.
Or rather, earn what a CA earns.

Sighs, I think I'm in my comfort zone.

Actually, to me, work is just work.

I've always wanted to climb up higher and faster,
but being a woman and being pregnant will in 1 way or another slow things down.

When things slow down, it seems to just stay that way.

I've lost the direction and became less ambitious,
maybe because of well, kids.

Being a woman is not easy,
you either choose to focus on your career and risk neglecting your family
OR
you focus on your family and your career comes to a standstill with not much progression.

Of course, I chose my kids, my family.

So depressing to talk away work LEH!!!

2016 RESOLUTIONS

1. LASIK
this resolution, I can tick it in Jan (oh YEAH BABY!)

2. ARISSA'S EDUCATION
I found the perfect school (just 1 street away from our house!),
BUT the class is full -_-"

WHYYYYYY!!!!

In the meantime, she will be home-schooled,
by none other than the disciplinarian, Papa.

The curriculum (2 hours) will be:
Monday, Tuesday: English
Wednesday: Chinese
Thursday: Maths
Friday: Science

LOL, how to teach Science?

Hmm, we shall see how it goes then...

3. ALONSO'S 1 YEAR OLD BIRTHDAY PARTY

We have had our eyes set on the venue
(the one we couldn't manage to get for Arissa's 1 year old party)

Kiasu husband asked me to book the venue
and I have emailed and right now, waiting for the proposal.

I'm contemplating if I should secretly book the baker for the birthday cake.

The last time, we (mostly the husband actually) baked Arissa's cake ourselves.
I remember the lack of sleep and the countless trip to the supermarkets and cake supplier shop.

The husband said we should also bake Alonso's cake.
Please NOOOOOOOOooooo please!

4. WEIGHT

I just want to be 48 kg again!

HAHAHA,
is that even possible!?

5. CUT DOWN ON ONLINE SHOPPING

Notice that I did not say quit,
because that is not realistic and asking for the impossible.

Having a second child

It's been a month since the delivery of my second child, Alonso.

As parents, we thought experience will make this whole repeated process easier but no, every child is different. For example, with Arissa (my firstborn), she can lie on the bed awake but with Alonso, if he is awake, he has to be carried.

I shopped online A LOT during Arissa's time, but with Alonso, there was practically no shopping online unless U call grocery shopping as shopping.

Okay enough of the comparisons!

No one told me these when I wanted a second kid or when I finally have one.

1. Attention

Everyone or rather most people said to always pay attention to your first kid as they could feel unbalanced. Since the baby can't understand yet, you should try to attend to your first kid first, it's okay to let the second baby cry.

NO. Your second kid deserves your utmost attention too. He/she didn't chose to be second. Just because he/she is second doesn't means that he should be second in line for your attention. If he/she was your first, he would have the 100% attention but because he was born 2nd, he didn't get to enjoy the 100% attention he could have deserved. This little angel of yours didn't choose to be second. So why mama, do U care about jiejie/korkor's feelings before mine? Why? I am also your child, mama.

2. Comparisons

We love to compare, don't we?

Mama, just because jiejie/korkor is easier to take care, doesn't means I'm a difficult baby..Why, mama, do U feel I'm a difficult baby? Why are you always comparing me to your firstborn? If I were first, you would have nothing to compare and you wouldn't think I was being difficult or bad tempered. Why do you call me naughty just because I want you to carry me? Why are U frustrated when I cry for your attention?

3. Panic level

When the first child had any conditions, the alarms in our head goes off and we panicked and goes off to the doctor or even the a&e.

But with the second child, we are more relaxed since we thought with experience, that was nothing.

Alonso had ringworm (skin condition) around his balls (I don't know how he gets it!) and we all thought it was just diaper rash. We tried to self treat it by applying tons of desitin (cream to prevent/treat diaper rash) and even antiseptic powder. He was a cry baby (okay he doesn't cry but he screams) for weeks and had to be carried to sleep. We thought he was a difficult baby, little did we know he had ringworm! Poor baby must be battling the itch! And we only know about that when we visited the doctor for one month review. Told the doctor that he seems to have diaper rash and the doctor took a look and said it's ringworm, some fungi infection blah blah..My heart broke! Then continue to check his mouth and he has some infection as well *cries and bang head on table* MY POOR BABY! U fucking bacteria fungi shit making my baby suffer!

After the meds application, he sleeps like an angel and kind of paying back sleep debt lol, slept like 4-5 hours before waking up for milk. My baby is not difficult, not a difficult baby! Not a naughty boy!

This taught me to be ALWAYS KIASU!
Whatever out of the norms, go to the doctor!

I feel so sorry for Alonso, because he gets compared to Arissa all the time. He was born 2nd not by choice and only have half of the attention by the parents, whereas Arissa at least get to enjoy 1+ years of 100% attention.

The husband said that 1 + 1 is not equals to 2. Having 2 kids is well not the same of having 1 kid + 1 kid. It's totally different from what we expected, I guess.

Will it really be possible to love your kids equally? Honestly? Well, to be honest, I don't think it is possible, since I know my parents love which of my siblings most.

People said to have at least 2 kids so that they can be there for each other, so that they can have company, so that they can share burdens (like when I grow old, both can share in taking care of me financially/physically), so that when the parents die, they have each other..

I totally agree.

There is a lot to sacrifice if U have 2 kids compared to 1, so be prepared if you decided to have more than 1. #iamnotdiscouragingreproduction

When I had Arissa, I was paranoid that I or rather we, couldn't give her the BEST, in terms of financially like going to the best schools, best clothes, best toys. Ya la, I know I was being superficial. That paranoid thinking lasted a month only, let me conclude that was due to post preg depression, shall we? If the problem was about money, then it isn't a problem. The BEST I could give my child was simply LOVE. She doesn't need the best material things in life.

Now that I have Alonso, I worried that my love or rather our love for our kids is insufficient. I worried that we can't love them equally. I worried that others won't love them equally. I worried that my son gets the 2nd kid 'branding'. #thismotherworriesalot

I can't imagine how to manage with a 3rd or 4th kid! I think will go crazy! Choy! Choy! #sorrygovernment #stoppingat2

Here's a picture to make this gloomy post less gloomy!

Top 10 differences between the first and second pregnancy

1. Diet

1st pregnancy - What diet? Whatever the baby wants to eat, I ate.
Old folks say to satisfy all cravings if not the baby will come out to be a glutton.
OK, point taken! EAT ALL I WANT!

2nd pregnancy - Thou shall not eat.
No sweet stuffs!
I am not going to make the same mistake of putting on more than 20 kg!

2. Shopping

1st pregnancy - ALL SOOOO CUTE!!! BUY ALL!!!
It's a girl and a girl can never have too many clothes.
Moreover, I don't have any pass-down baby girl clothes.
So, I bought all the PINK one can possibly find.
Why is there so many things to buy for a baby girl?

2nd pregnancy - Thou shall not spend unwisely.
I have 2 nephews, so there's plenty of baby boy's clothes.
And when I say plenty, it means it is enough for at least 5, okay maybe 10 baby boys!
My sister is 100 times crazier than me.

I bought less than 20 pieces of baby boy clothings.

So, I splurged on 1 jacket
which I am still feeling very guilty.

1 tiny jacket for the price of 1 kitchen set.
Okay, never mind.

3. Medication / Supplements

1st pregnancy - I ate those pills faithfully.

2nd pregnancy - If I can remember, then I take them.

4. Transportation

1st pregnancy - When the husband can't send me or pick me up from work, I took the taxi.

2nd pregnancy - For the 1st and 2nd trimester, if there's no car, I took the bus (sometimes).
For the 3rd trimester, I took the taxi (because apparently some working adults need to be seated on the priority seats to play some lame iphone games).

5. Finance

1st pregnancy - That Chanel bag is nice! So are the earrings!

2nd pregnancy - If I buy this Chanel bag, I can buy so many shoes and clothes for the kids.

6. Push Present

1st pregnancy - 1 Chanel bag please!

2nd pregnancy - I need no Chanel. I want lasik, so that
I can wake up, open my eyes and see my kids.

7. Husband

1st pregnancy -
Wife: I am thirsty.
Husband: What drink do you want?

2nd pregnancy -
Husband: I am thirsty.
Wife: What drink do you want?

8. Sleep

1st pregnancy - Sleep all I want.

2nd pregnancy - My 1st baby kid needs me, I have to wake up now.

9. Confinement Preparation

1st pregnancy - Read up online intensively,
listen to everyone's views.

2nd pregnancy - I've been there, done that. Nothing to prepare for.

10. Birth Preparation

1st pregnancy -
Hospital bag packed.
Downloaded at least 20 hospital bag checklists just in case I missed out anything.

2nd pregnancy -
RELAX lah,
I will pack it later~

I'm a Merries diaper hogger!

This is the current storeroom situation.

When there's a merries diapers sale, you whack!
admire onion head

Do not hesitate, you will regret later when U are paying normal prices for it.
I live by this principle good job onion head

Anyway, I've an excuse for hogging.
Well, if Arissa outgrow these, her brother and nephew can use them!

See!
Savings in the long run!
I'm such a thrifty person, flips hair

Back to haunt

Sighs!
This 2nd pregnancy, I'm very conscious about the weight gain because if it's rocket high like Arissa's time, I thought I have to go through that diabetics test again. So all in all for the past few months, I've only gained 5 kgs which is amazing lol, I can be Japanese liao!

But but but the Gynae said I still gonna go for the diabetics test, Fml cos I had gestational diabetics during my 1st pregnancy, siannnnnnnnn...

So I spammed all the durians and sweet drinks yesterday in anticipation of the tests next month which requires fasting (starve Preggy woman to death!), 3 blood withdrawal and sucky drinking of glucose!

Thank God that I only want 2 kids and just nice, 1 girl 1 boy! Okay I need to count my blessing instead of whining non stop!

Hopefully my weight gain can remain constant and the total weight gain is just 10 kg instead of the previous 20kg weight gain during 1st pregnancy!

After this pregnancy, I can work hard to be hot mama lol. Gonna sign up all the nonsense facial and body treatments and do lasik and finally, focus on my career!
